For the final project after reading the book, Touching Spirit Bear, The students reflected on the 4 themes in the book, Strength, Honesty, Gentleness and Respect. In groups they came up with synonyms and antonyms to their theme, then they found examples of those ideas in the book, along with quotes from the story. After that they drew pictures of their themes. The final step was to create an interactive voice thread where they spoke about their pictures and the themes in Touching Spirit Bear. Click on the links below to listen.

It is a story about determination and how one person can make a difference. We are now into the 2nd month of school and a little over half way through the first quarter. The students are learning a lot of new skills from reciprocal reading to coding text using reading strategies. They are improving in their writing with the use of the P.O.W. (paragraph of the week). We will also be starting our personal narratives. We are exploring the flowchart in History with concentration on the early humans and the first civilizations. The students are becoming more independent and our technology use is soaring to new levels. Feel free to come by anytime and check us out!
