Hello students and parents, welcome back to school, for some of you this may be your first blog experience, and others are pros!
I also send out a weekly newsletter called a glog to all those who provide me with an email address. I give this out as a hard copy to students as well. You can access current and past glogs/weekly newsletter on the side bar.

Each student is creating a country to demostrate knowledge of geography, and country elements. One of the activities was to create a mask to be used in a ceromony, battle, or ritual. They had to then do an oral presentation and report of the colors and symbols of their mask and how they were connected to their country. Here are a few pictures.

For the final project after reading the book, Touching Spirit Bear, The students reflected on the 4 themes in the book, Strength, Honesty, Gentleness and Respect. In groups they came up with synonyms and antonyms to their theme, then they found examples of those ideas in the book, along with quotes from the story. After that they drew pictures of their themes. The final step was to create an interactive voice thread where they spoke about their pictures and the themes in Touching Spirit Bear. Click on the links below to listen.

We watched a movie called Spirit Bear, it is a true story about a boy named, Simon Jackson who starts a movement to save the Spirit Bear. It is a story about determination and how one person can make a difference.
